The route into Port of Ness harbour is the main road which
takes you from Stornoway, with also forks to Eorodale and Adabrock.
However, you can also walk over the crofts and climb down the cliffs to
reach the beach, although this route can be very treacherous, especially
during the high tide.
The route goes down a hill to the main harbour area, but
you can also go to the road, which over looks the pier, and you can enjoy
the pleasant view of the sea crashing against the breakwater.
Continue to go on, and you will find a rather humorous mimic of the Butt
of Lewis Lighthouse!

Near the boats are large cliffs, with remains of old
buildings that look as though they have been long since decayed.
There is crystal clear water, which can be climbed out of onto the pier,
which branches out to the sea. If you go back to the hill road you
can find a boat shed overlooking the beach, which also is sometimes part
of the summer Ness Carnival event.
Down the stairs you may walk into a wonderful and large
sandy beach. As you walk over it you will notice huge cliffs to your right
and clear turquoise sea to your left. If you are lucky you may see
fishermen in speed boats. The cliffs are impressive and have plenty
of character in their structure. If you want to see the richness and
variety of the Isle of Lewis, be sure to come to the beautiful Port of
Ness.
