Proshare Student Investor 2004:
Every year,
Lionel School enters a number of teams in the UK Proshare Student Investor
competition. This competition uses the computing, current affairs
and mathematical skills of students, and also develops important
citizenship skills with regard to financial skills for life.
In 1999/2000, the IT Girls from
Lionel School reached the UK semi-finals, achieving the distinction of
being placed second in Scotland, having converted an initial investment of
£100,000 into over £356,000 in only three months - a profit of over
£250,000. For the last two school sessions, teams from Lionel
School have consistently reached the UK quarter finals.
For 2003/04, a record seven teams from Lionel
School have entered the competition:
