                                 Pupils' Survey 2007

This Quality Improvement Pupil Survey was completed by 84 pupils from Primary 4 - Secondary 2 anonymously, representing almost 100% of eligible pupils freely expressing their personal opinions.

Comment:  The majority of pupils enjoy school, usually find school work interesting and strongly feel that they are learning and making progress.  Very few indeed are bored, unhappy, worried or feel unsafe in the school.  They are happy with the provision of extra-curricular activities, within and  after school, and feel that the school has a clean and tidy environment.  The majority enjoy school lunches in the cafeteria, but do not agree that cans should always be banned in the cafeteria.

Comment:  Overall, the pupils regard their relationship with the teaching staff as being very good.  The pupils feel strongly that the teachers are firm but fair with them, fell valued by the teachers, and feel that they are given the help they need with classwork.  However, pupils feel that homework not always reviewed by teachers.

Comment:  Overall, the pupils felt that they had learnt important things in almost all subjects.  However, there are a few subjects where more pupils disagreed or strongly disagreed that they had learnt anything important for themselves.  With time, they are able to exercise personalisation and choice as regards subject uptake for certificate classes.

Comment:  Overall, the overview of the school by pupils is generally very positive.  Pupils feel that the spread of homework across the week should be more even.  There is approval overall regarding the good choice of food every lunch break.  Finally, school trips are perceived as great successes, and the pupils are looking forward enthusiastically towards the new Spòrsnis Centre.
